![]() ![]() But adobe seems spread a little thin these days with a web version when the ipad version doesn’t feel the least bit finished. I could have a lengthy conversation and screen share the process with someone interested. Along comes affinity designer for the ipad and their system works pretty well but affinity doesn’t have an image trace function and that’s a problem. Once youve created the perfect pattern, its the work of seconds to download and share your creation. Procreate makes this easier because they use a different system that doesn’t require numbers at all but procreate is raster and not vector. You can build patterns out of ready-made icons that can be scaled, positioned and rotated to create just the right look, and you can also upload your own images to use as pattern elements. For example if a a design element (motif) is being built on a square and that element falls off the top, then it must be duplicated and repeated in the same position but off the bottom of the square. I want desperately to use the ipad for my designs but the ability to make a repeat pattern is impossible if the artist is trying to place certain motifs in specific places. I mentioned to someone on this platform that I’m a surface pattern designer.
